Why Self Care Can Manage Stress
Why Self Care Can Manage Stress Stress Management Management Techniques Print Why Self Care Can Help You Manage Stress By Elizabeth Scott, MS twitter Elizabeth Scott, MS, is a wellness coach specializing in stress management and quality of life, and the author of 8 Keys to Stress Management. Learn about our Medical Review Board Carly Snyder, MD on November 10, 2019 How Stress Impacts Your Health Overview Signs of Burnout Stress and Weight Gain Benefits of Exercise Stress Reduction Tips Self-Care Practices Mindful Living Ralf Nau/Iconica/Getty Images Many of us have so many responsibilities in life that we forget to take care of our personal needs. This is particularly true for mothers, who have many caregiving responsibilities, but moms certainly dont have a monopoly on letting life get in the way of taking care of themselves. And while itâs hard to prioritize something like taking a bath when you have so many other items on your to-do list, self-care is an important aspect of stress management. How Self Care Benefits You We are all less able to handle the stresses that come our way when were already depleted by physical and emotional exhaustion. Or, put in a more positive way, we are more resilient and more able to handle lifes stress when we are feeling our best both physically and emotionally. A massage, soak in the tub or other forms of pampering revitalize you inside and out. Taking time out to maintain self-care has several benefits: It Affects Your Physical Health While self-pampering doesnât always lead to major improvements in overall health the way healthy diet and exercise do, the relaxation you get from it can trigger the relaxation response, which can prevent chronic stress from damaging your health, so in a sense, self-care is good for you inside and out. It Affects Your Emotional Health Taking time out to care for yourself can remind you and others that you and your needs are important, too. Having a well-cared-for body can make you feel good about yourself and your life, and conveys to others that you value yourself. This can contribute to long-term feelings of wellbeing. It Makes You a Better Caregiver People who neglect their own needs and forget to nurture themselves are at danger of deeper levels of unhappiness, low self-esteem, and feelings of resentment. Also, sometimes people who spend their time only taking care of others can be at risk of getting burned out on all the giving, which makes it more difficult to care for others or themselves. Taking time to care for yourself regularly can make you a better caretaker for others. The Importance of Self-Care There are several different ways to focus on self-care, many of which involve making time to get enough sleep, prioritizing healthy meals, ensuring a balance of leisure time in your schedule, and making time for friends. A simple but often overlooked form of self-care is having a self-pampering experience on a regular basis in your own home. Taking a few hours for a ?spa experience and some much-deserved self-care is also an effective way to manage stress for the following reasons: It Gives You a Break from Stress Taking a break amidst a tub of warm bubbles or under the warm hands of an experienced masseuse can help you feel like youâre escaping a stressful reality and taking a mental and emotional vacation. As previously mentioned, it triggers the relaxation response and allows you to come back to the reality of your life feeling refreshed and relaxed. It Gives You Time Alone While different people have varying degrees of introversion and extroversion, having some time alone is important for most peopleâs functioning. When youâre relaxing by yourself, itâs much easier to slip into a state of quiet meditation, enjoy some self-reflection, or let your problems work themselves out in the back of your mind, without taking all of your focused concentration. It Offers Soothing Feelings Giving your body some special treatment is a natural way to relieve stress. Other than keeping your skin soft and your body in good repair, spa-related activities like massage and warm baths have been known to soothe even small colicky babies like nothing else. Such activities continue to be effective tools for relaxation as we get older, but we sometimes forget to utilize them. Self-Care Strategies That Work Once youâve decided itâs time to start nurturing yourself and your body, be sure to block off some time for this. Try to schedule a block where you wonât be interrupted. You need only to have a bathroom to give yourself a home-spa experience; you can put on some soothing music, and try some or all of the following self-care strategies. Take a Bath: Get out the bubbles, oils, and scented soaps, and soak until youâre wrinkled.Deep-Condition Your Hair: While youâre in the tub, put on a deep-conditioning treatment for your hair, and let it work as you relax.Deep-Clean Your Pores: With a nice clay masque, you can draw impurities out of your skin and stress out of your system.Care For Your Feet: After you soak your feet to soften calloused skin, use a pumice stone to slough off dead skin, and finish with rich foot cream, and perhaps polish.Nourish Your Skin: Rich, luxurious creams smell wonderful and feel smooth, especially if you exfoliate your skin in the tub before putting them on.Tend to Your Nails: Correct the beating your nails probably take from your busy life (especially for those of you who bite your nails!) by filing and buffing. A coat of polish can make you feel like a princess for days afterward. (This is probably more for my female readers.)Get a Massage: This one can be especially nice. If your budge t doesnât allow for regular massages with a professional, see if you can trade with a friend or your spouse, or use an electronic massager. In addition to pampering yourself, more substantial forms of self-care involving healthy lifestyle choices are important, too. Consuming a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and being sure you get enough sleep are all important for long-term health and stress management as well.

Political Theory Of Justice, Veil Of Ignorance And Nozick...
Intro: John Rawls a political theorist engages in various political theories and arguments that contradict, support, and scrutinizes others theories made by other notable political theorist. Rawls contemplates usage of theories such as The Theory of Justice, Veil of Ignorance and Nozickââ¬â¢s Entitlement Theory which will be discussed within this analysis for their relation to society and what benefits or aliments they hold if any on societyââ¬â¢s effective function. History of Rawls John Rawls wrote several highly influential articles in the 19950`s and 1960`s, his first book, A Theory of Justice (1971), revitalized the social-contract tradition, using it to articulate and defend a detailed vision of egalitarian liberalism. In Political Liberalism [PL] (1993), he recast the role of political philosophy, accommodating it to the effectively permanent ââ¬Å"reasonable pluralismâ⬠of religious, philosophical, and other comprehensive doctrines or worldviews that characterize modern societies. He explains how philosophers can characterize public justification and the legitimate, democratic use of collective coercive power while accepting that pluralism. (Richardson) Rawls believes that in a situation where a society is established of people who are self-interested, rational, and equal, the rules of justice are established by what is mutually acceptable and agreed upon by all the people. Bullying And The School A Safer Place - 913 Words
ââ¬Å"With ignorance comes fear ââ¬â from fear comes bigotry. Education is the key to acceptance.â⬠ââ¬âKathleen Patel. That is a famous saying that indirectly shows how to stop bullying, it says that to stop bullying people need to have a good education. Bullying is the act of aggressive and continuous behavior against a weaker person that leads to physical and/or mental injuries. Most of bullying cases occur during childhood and in school years; this makes a kid to be afraid of going to school and not seizing the opportunity of having a good education. To stop this serious problem schools must take action on an anti-bullying campaign and make the school a safer place. The imminent change needs to be promoted at two levels. First at the home level, the family needs to create a charming atmosphere where the kid feels love. Then in the classroom or school where teachers can provide direct discussions with children who are victims of bullying and with the ones who harass. The increasing number of bully victims in the last few years is outrageous. The family environment is the major cause of bullying because home education plays an important role in childrenà ´s behavior. When at home exists a lack of parental supervision, kids begin to feel insecure and this leads them to become a bully with hope that their parents focus more on their actions. Shakespeares Development Of Power In Macbeth Essay Example For Students
Shakespeares Development Of Power In Macbeth Essay Macbeth is a very power greedy person. It is not necessarily his own doing that he is such a ruthless person. It all started (Macbeth being power greedy) with the Three Witches predictions: All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of Glamis!/ All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of/ Cawdor!/ All hail, Macbeth! That shalt be king hereafter. (1.3.50-54)As soon as Macbeth learned of his future, he began to scheme on just exactly how he would fulfill these prophecies. That is when he decided that he would have to murder Duncan to fulfill the last prophecy. But that is when he had a change or heart. The only problem with Macbeth deciding not to murder Duncan, is that all of a sudden Lady Macbeth became the power greedy one. This is when Lady Macbeths scheming began. Although Macbeth had changed his mind and basically refused to murder Duncan, Lady Macbeth was able to eventually convince him to carry through with the plan. Even though Macbeth was the one who executed the plan, Lady Macbeth was the mastermind behind the scheme. Her greed for power was the one major factor that possessed her to convince Macbeth of the plan and carry through with it. Macbeth murdered Duncan at Iverness, and became hysterical after doing so. As a result of Malcolm and Donalbains suspicions resulting in their departure to England and Ireland Macbeth became king: this was the ultimate power that he and Lady Macbeth had as their goal (well, actually it was more of Lady Macbeths goal), and now he eventually had received it. Nothing was going to take away this ultimate power from Macbeth, and he would do anything to keep it. Macbeths ruthlessness results in him ordering three murderers to murder his best friend, Banquo. The power of being king has taken over Macbeths life, and he is a victim of his own greed for power. He is a tyrant. Not only does Macbeth murder Banquo (not directly, of course), he also murders (actually he has people murder) Macbuffs family. Macbeth does not murder Macduff, but he does murder his wife, children, and servants. Macbeth can not stoop any lower than the level that he is currently at. Now, it is Malcolms turn to want the power of kingship. The reason that Malcolm desires to become king, is because he knows that Macbeth is a murderer and a tyrant. Malcolm feels confident that he will be a fair and just king. At the end of the play when Malcolm comes into kingship, he is a gentle and kind ruler already.

The Implications of Big Data
Introduction Currently, many enterprises are investing in big data technologies because they are seen as a future of information analysis. It is a set of approaches, tools, and methods that are used to handle enormous amounts of various kinds of structured and unstructured data in a way that would be easy for people to understand. There are different methods and techniques of analysis such as crowdsourcing and data mining methods.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Implications of Big Data specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It has its benefits and limitations for individuals, companies, and governments. The goal of this research project is to analyze the implications of big data to propose recommendations on how enterprises should get ready for the changes. Big Data and Individuals Benefits of Big Data for Individuals Big data can be extremely useful for every individual. New technologies are always being developed, and companies are looking for ways to utilize the available information. The current situation in the world can only be described as a knowledge revolution. Gadgets are capable of storing extraordinary amounts of information and can perform millions of tasks at once. The first benefit for individuals is that such technologies could be extremely useful for a small business or family budget planning. Mobile phone applications that analyze vast amounts of data could be developed in the future and everyone would be able to make decisions based on collected and processed information. Companies that develop the software and methods of analysis are slowly making small steps in that direction. Wu et al. (2013, p. 97) claim that ââ¬Ëdata collection has grown tremendously and is beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, manage and process.ââ¬â¢ This signifies that information processing it developing at an extremely fast pace. However, it is still in nee d of development to meet the necessary requirements of its users. Another important aspect that should be noted is that big data allows every individual to influence the decision-making of companies in one way or another even if such influence is relatively not that significant. Limitations of Big Data for Individuals There are few limitations connected with usage of big data technologies for individuals. First of all, privacy may be breached. Some people say that some data should be openly available for general public but it is not so simple. It may contain the information about locations and phone calls that should be private.Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The second limitation is that such enormous amounts of data are hard for some to understand without an external help. Cron, Nguyen, and Parameswaran (2012, p. 8) found that ââ¬Ëin such massive data contexts , getting data into a form amenable to analysis and visualization is challengingââ¬â¢. In other words, companies should put a lot of effort into the development of tools that would help to visualize and process such massive amounts of information. There are connections between all of the pieces of data. However, it is nearly impossible to detect correct correlations for most individuals. Most of them are utterly meaningless, and the goal of big data is to eliminate this problem. Another common issue is that current data processing programs use certain algorithms that can be abused if one has the knowledge of such weaknesses. Current big data systems are not able to recognize such cases. The biggest problem is sentence structures because they are still extremely hard to analyze. Nevertheless, developers are trying to minimize possible errors that could be made by their systems. Big Data and Companies Benefits of Big Data for Companies The first advantage of big data technologies i s that they help with the decision-making process. Gathered data is stored and analyzed to develop new strategies. Also, it allows a firm to see the effectiveness of said strategies through a variety of financial metrics. Nowadays, the use of the internet is essential for every company and data about web page visits, online purchases, web traffic, and other crucial statistics should be stored.à The second benefit is that the new technologies are being developed that help with the visual representation. Pflugfelder (2013, p. 19) states that ââ¬Ëin some cases, these collaborations may result in infographics, which have exploded in popularity in the last few years, or data visualizations of more traditional formsââ¬â¢. This means that it is necessary for enterprises to collaborate because they may share technologies to provide a range of benefits to each other. Infographics are especially useful for companies because they are relatively easy to understand and can be demonstrate d at meetings and conferences. It is necessary to build an analytics team if an enterprise plans to implement a big data project (Gudivada, Baeza-Yates, Raghavan 2015). Each member of such group has a set of tasks and responsibilities to ensure the success of operations.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Implications of Big Data specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Limitations of Big Data for Companies Numerous restrictions are connected with the usage of big data technologies for enterprises. First of all, some barriers prevent companies in this industry from fully incorporating this approach. The knowledge gap is a critical issue. Many businesses think that these kinds of technologies are disruptive to the business and prefer more traditional methods. Also, some firms are just too small and do not have sufficient funds to start using big data technologies. Another issue is that some valuable informatio n may be lost when processed because it is just numbers, and human interference is always necessary. The second restriction is that the implementation of big data technologies that are still not fully developed requires extreme amounts of resources. Xu, Cai, and Liang (2015, p. 205) claim that ââ¬Ënew tools and techniques are obviously needed if the data are too large or too complex to surpass the capacity of existing methods to process and analyzeââ¬â¢. This claim signifies that the development of new computer software is of utmost importance, and most enterprises are still not ready to use big data. Big Data and Governments Benefits of Big Data for Governments There are numerous benefits of big data for authorities. The first benefit is that with the introduction of big data, governments are able to perform the same operations that they were doing but much more cheaply and efficiently. It may be helpful in such areas as cyber security, public safety and justice, and finance and operations. The second benefit is its extreme usefulness when governments try to guarantee well-being of citizens and protect the country. Search engine queries can be analyzed to predict possible outbreaks of epidemic diseases and the governments would be able to stop such disasters from happening. Phone call records can also be monitored to prevent any terrorist attacks. Currently, such companies as IBM offer analysis of data to governments. Very soon, close to 35 percents of all the collected data will be useful because of the introduction of new technologies (Ohlhorst 2013). Limitations of Big Data for Governments There are also numerous restrictions that come with the usage of big data. The most major issue that governments have to deal with is a possibility of information leakage. This is especially dangerous in the era of the Internet when information may be posted online, and millions of users are able to see it.Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More The safety of the citizens is of utmost importance for all the governments, and necessary measures should be taken to protect the data to guarantee the privacy of all the individuals. The fact that big data is extremely helpful in fighting crime and terrorism is not questionable. The second limitation is the issue of trust. Some people do not believe the authority most of the time with their information and often voice their opinions against laws and acts that are deemed as excessive. It has been a part of a famous scandal connected with Edward Snowden, who has leaked secret information. Liang et al. (2015, p. 2385) state that ââ¬Ëproviding security services increases the computation and the occupation of system resourcesââ¬â¢. In other words, governments need to sacrifice some resources to protect the valuable information. Effects of Big Data on Companies in Manufacturing Industry The analysis of data is especially beneficial for the companies. First of all, various procedure s are used by businesses to help with the decision-making process. They analyze, generate and store all kinds of data from various sources such as clients and distributors. Technologies can be bought from companies that are focused on these types of operations. Certain types of data should be collected for decision-making purposes. This is especially true for firms that operate in the manufacturing sector because analytics are extremely crucial to assess the needs of customers. For example, information about customer profiles should be stored to see the effectiveness of the current strategy of a company. Knowledge about orders is also crucial for every business. Customer service reports should be gathered because opinions of clients are essential, and every enterprise should be able to base their future strategies with those views in mind. Some metrics are commonly used by the companies in this industry to measure the quality and satisfaction levels of clients that help to identify if expenses are reasonable or not. Big data is extremely helpful when a company is trying to develop a servitization strategy. Opresnik and Taisch (2015, p. 175) claim that ââ¬Ëservitization will be used even more by manufacturing enterprises to create additional and more secure revenue streams, since global competition is increasing while margins are loweringââ¬â¢. This means that big data is capable of analyzing if produced products should be delivered to customers with various services as an additional value. Recommendations It is highly necessary for corporations to be prepared for big data. After the analysis of peer-reviewed journal articles I was able to get a better understanding of the topic and would like to make recommendations for companies that are still hesitant about the implementation of big data systems. The first recommendation is that the help of big data analytics companies should be requested. They should help on each step of the process thanks to their ex perience that they have earned during many years in the business. These companies should help with the analysis of information that would not have been recognized by most of the systems. Analysis of data that has different values is much harder than analysis of simple data. This happens because the information is collected from various sources and in many forms. These companies also offer other kinds of services such as data management that are very useful for the firms.à My second recommendation is that a company should carefully develop its privacy policy to maximize the benefits from the collected information while protecting the privacy of the customers. Obtained data may be shared with business partners, law enforcement, service providers, and affiliates. However, it should be encrypted and should not reveal any private information. Also, there is a need to publish a remedy if a clientââ¬â¢s security is breached. However, a company should do it in case of an emergency to m inimize possible damage to the image of a corporation. My final recommendation is that companies should consider the development of their own big data systems. Alexander, Hoisie, and Szalay (2011, p. 11) found that ââ¬Ëin addition to the hardware investments required, there is a pressing need to invest in research and development of analysis algorithmsââ¬â¢. Differently put, a company could develop their own computer software or analysis methods to get ahead of competitors in the market. If it is not possible, some employees should be trained to work with big data systems because they are extremely complex and require vast knowledge. Conclusion In conclusion, big data is becoming a huge part of the modern world. Companies that still not have invested in this method of information processing should revise their opinions on this subject. For me, the most significant part of this research was to get a better understanding of the state of big data technologies, and what could poss ibly happen to them in the future. Initially, I would not have been able to formulate a definition of big data because this term is not widely known. Having analyzed the peer-reviewed articles I came to the conclusion that the technologies are still being in relatively early stage of development, and a lot needs to be done. Most importantly, I have learned that big data currently has its limitations for all the sectors. This information is helpful for me as a consultant because I am able to develop my own opinion on this subject. However, I have not sufficiently improved my understanding of the way big data functions because I do not have the sufficient knowledge of the subject. As a next step, I need to research the literature on this topic to develop as a business consultant. Overall, big data has its benefits and limitations. Most of the companies gather various data, but most of it is not processed. Xhafa (2015, p. 1) found that ââ¬Ëcompanies can adopt data-driven knowledge f or their decision-making by finding meaningful patterns in their business dataââ¬â¢. Differently put, enterprises should use available information to the full potential. Nevertheless, technologies are always developing, and they should be widely used by both companies and governments. It is the future of analytics, but other methods should not be disregarded right away because they have proven their efficiency.
